Whitening and Bleaching
Discoloured teeth are the curse of smokers, tea and coffee drinkers, red wine lovers and some unlucky people who have had Tetracycline antibiotics in childhood. Many people find their teeth discolour as they wear, with age. But don’t worry; you don’t have to put up with it. The solution is not only safe and effective, it’s quick as well!
If your teeth are suitable for whitening, and most are, a whitening tray is made – it is like a very thin mouthguard – and this fits snugly over your teeth. This is worn with a thin strip of whitening gel for an hour every day or night for 1-2 weeks (longer for very heavily stained teeth). During this time the gel whitens your teeth, not by changing the tooth structure but just by bleaching the colour. For this reason, research shows it is very safe for teeth and gums.
If you just love your tea and coffee, red wine or cigarettes, you may find a little colour returning in 9 months to a year. If so, you can wear your tray again and within a night or two your smile will return to its original brightness.
