Gum Health Evaluation

  • Do your gums bleed when you brush your teeth or when you eat food?
  • Do you notice you occasionally have bad breath?
  • Are you aware of gaps starting to appear between your teeth?
  • Have you noticed one or more of your teeth no longer feels as solid as it used to and now seems to wobble slightly when pushed?
  • Have your gums receded, exposing the tooth roots?
  • Does food pack uncomfortably between your teeth?
  • Are your gums swollen and red, or peeling away?
  • Do your gums feel painful?
  • Have you noticed yellow or dark staining around the teeth at the gum line?
  • Do you occasionally see a white fluid coming out of the gums next to the tooth?

If you answered yes to any of the above, then you may have gum disease – periodontal disease.

If you answered yes to a number of the above you could have more serious problems and dental treatment will help retain your teeth.

Have you ever noticed the gum occasionally bleed when you brush your teeth?  Or perhaps bad breath every so often.  You could well have some gum disease.  Almost everyone has it to some degree and they are not aware of it because it is painless.  For this reason gum disease often goes unnoticed until it is quite advanced.

Unfortunately by the time discomfort happens patients often have a gum abscess, loose teeth or even teeth that have to be removed.  The major cause of tooth loss for patients over the age of 35 years is Periodontitis or Gum Disease.

The good news is that this is a preventable condition.  With regular checkups and our active maintenance program, your bleeding gums, bad breath and the prospect of loose or abscessed teeth can be eliminated forever.

At Rob Duhig’s Dental Practice we have two dedicated Dental Hygienists, Deborah Harrison and Lucita Fenton whose role is to exclusively prevent and treat this condition.

Sterility and Cross Infection

One of a patients greatest fears when they visit a dentist, or any health care facility is that maintenance of the facility is not sterile and they catch a communicable disease during their time in the dental chair.

At Rob Duhig’s Dental Practice we have always been at the forefront of infection control and adhere to Australian Standards Guidelines for Cross Infection Control in the Private Dental Practice.
